Ask money woman what they are most looking forward to this month. Odds are you will get the same answer. The most anticipated release of the Sex & the City movie. I am so excited for this movie to come out. This is hands down my favorite show. I know that thousands of women will agree with me. This movie is far over due. It has been a couple of years since the show ended and the movie is getting great reviews. It received a rave review from Oprah herself after she dedicated an entire show to the lovely ladies of S&TC. The story line of the movie is still pretty vague. From the previews the movie focuses on the wedding of the main character Carrie Bradshaw with her true love Mr. Big. It also catches up with the women a couple of years after show ending. It is sure to be the "chick flick" of the year that many boyfriends will definitely be dragged into seeing, I know mine will.

The hottest shows on TV

Here are two of my favorite shows that have been filling up my DVR over the past couple of months.
Gossip Girl

Gossip Girl is based on a best selling book series. The show is a little different from the book but the characters and the story line is fairly similar. It is about very well privelaged kids in a private school in our lovely New York City. It is about all the drama they go through and it is all being blogged about on a website by a mysterious character called "Gossip Girl"

Ugly Betty

Ugly Betty is centered around a character name Betty, an ugly duckling working for a magazine called MODE similar to Vogue. She is not like the typical MODE employee who are all beautiful people and models. The show follows Betty as she tries to make it as a writer, her family, and co-workers. Betty tries to stay true to herself while still working at MODE.

Weeeeezzyyyy F Babyyyy.

This post is about one of my favorite rappers, Lil Wayne. It seems like these days every he is featured in just about everyone's songs. He has collaborated with artists that range from enrique iglesias to chris brown, and just about any one else you can imagine.
AKA Weezy has taken the hip hop world by storm with his rapping skills. His new single lollipop is on top of the music charts. I just love the way he raps he is amazing, he comes up with things that you can not even imagine. His new CD keeps on getting pushed back which is dissappointing but with all the tracks that he keeps dropping through mixtapes as well as the internet. He will be performing at this years Hot 97 SummerJam08 and I am lucky enough to have gotten floor seats to see my favorite rapper perform.

Apple iphone v. LG voyager

As an iphone fanatic I have become completely dependent on it. I can not imagine having ever lived without it. I see the Voyager as being nothing more than a cheap bootleg version of my precious iphone. The only difference being that the voyager has an available keyboard the design is almost identical to that of Apple's. So Lets look at some specs.

The Kentucky Derby?

The Kentucky Derby was this Saturday, No I didn't watch it but I was on one of my favorite blogs today and i stumbled on this story. Filly Eight Belles finished second in the race before collapsing due to an injury sustained in the race. He broke his two front ankles and was euthanized on the spot by the ambulance. They said that there was no possible recovery for such an injury. I don't know why but this made me sooo sad. The idea of a horse being injured like that and not given a chance to recover. I know it is different but if a human broke their ankles you wouldn't expect them to be euthanized. Yes, this was a race horse who was no longer useful to its owner after it's injury and I don't exactly know if a horse could be nursed back to health after this but I cant imagine someone not having some emotional attachment to this animal. It sounds like it was just killed without any hesitation.

Iron Man

This will probably seem like a weird post for a girl to write but I saw Iron Man last night and that movie was truly amazing. I loved it and I didn't even wanna see the movie. I was dragged there by my boyfriend and my brother and I'm truly glad they did it. With the exception of Spider-Man I have never been into the whole comic book superhero thing.
I didn't previously know any of the background story or anything, my brother is a huge fan of comics so he was really excited about it. Me? not so much... Robert Downey Jr. He made the character a really like able character. I liked it because it was not just a plain action movie, I definitely wouldn't have liked that, I usually hate action movies. It was more than that. I will definitely go see this movie again i enjoyed it so much.

The same ol' routine

I am only 18 and I am soooooooo tired of working. I have been at the same job for two years doing the exact same thing day after day. I work at a clothing store, it's a family business so my bosses are very hands on with the business. There is only one manager who doesn't do much of anything. Great guy but I wouldn't even call him a manager his primary responsibility is that of a stock boy. I work on the registers, if there is a problem with the computers, the system, customers, any questions I am the only one who know how to handle the situation when my boss is not around. He is not usually around.
In 2 years I have gotten one raise. I make one dollar more than a girl who works there for a week, yet I have around double the responsibility. After two years I have no title no recognition for anything that I do. I am the veteran at the store along with one other girl who doesn't really do much of anything. Is a nice raise and the title of asst. manager a lot to ask for? I don't really think so and I'm tired of it. I feel like I am stuck at a dead end job. I feel stagnated and I absolutely hate it. I would like to move on find something more professional possibly in the field of work I wanna be in. Yet I'm too comfortable and maybe a little scared to actually move on. But I think this is it.. Hopefully this will be my last month and as much as it's gonna hurt to leave somewhere that I have been for so long I am finally gonna have to do it.

Ed Hardy

So what's the deal with this Ed Hardy clothing line that everyone seems to be wearing these days. Complete with rhinestones and crazy tattoo designs which come hand in hand with some hefty price tags, it has quickly become all the rage with teens in the Staten Island area as well as its many celebrity fans. The line includes anything you can imagine from t-shirts and hoodies, shoewear, eyewear all the way to keychains and flasks

Ed Hardy is based on the work of American tattoo artist Don Ed Hardy. He is an accomplished painter as well as a tattoo artist. He is an innovator when it comes to the world of tattoo being one of the first to integrate Asian influences. He, contrary to what many believe is not the designer of this clothing line.
Christian Audigier was previously the head designer for the Von Dutch clothing line. He then licensed the right to produce the Ed Hardy clothing line in 2004. He uses the art produced by Ed Hardy and incorporates them into his designs. There are currently around 20 Ed Hardy store opens as well as thousands of stores all over the country that distribute this line. Audigier continues to find ways to stay current and has developed other clothing lines such as Smet and Crystal Rock.
I work at a store that currently distributes Ed Hardy and the amount of money that these people make are ridiculous. I have personally seen the invoices, shirts are bought for half of the price that they are sold at, not considering how much it actually costs to produce these items probably even less that that. The clothes are nice but not worth what we are actually paying for what is only going to be a passing fad.

Some much needed Britney.

Regardless of the mess that she has become I will always be a fan of Britney Spears. Back when she was sane she was one of my favorite artists. I had all her cd's, knew every word to every song, and I know I wasn't alone on that one. It's really sad what happened to her, She was an amazing performer and doesn't get all the credit she deserves. She got dealt a few bad cards but im sure she will make a comeback, they always do...


Her latest CD Blackout was really great. It still sold a decent amount of copies even though Britney did not do basically any press for it. I personally think this is a great album, it's not her best but it's not as bad as people make it out to be. It could have been a big hit if she was in the right state of mine to actually do decent videos and possibly a tour. She has some really good songs on it. She co wrote some of the songs on it. The one that gets the most personal is called "Why Should I be Sad" She seems to open up about her divorce with Kevin Federline.

Some Real Estate Law.

St. Johns University plans to build off campus dormitories in a quiet neighborhood in Jamaica Estates. It will be a six story high building that can house up to 485 beds. The community is in uproar over this. They believe that this will disrupt the tranquility they have in their neighborhood. There are many who oppose the construction of these dormitories. St. Johns further claims that they are only leasing the property and that it is being developed solely by private developers.
The main objection to this project here is the zoning laws. The neighborhood is made up of small single family homes. Councilman Tony Avella and James Gennaro are two of the main opponents of the plans. They denounce the use of the loophole that allows student dormitories to be considered “community facilities.” Using this loophole the building can be significantly larger than what it’s originally zoned for. They call for a reform in these areas and that St. John's University is exploiting the system.
The community facilities are made up of three different categories. The one in which St. John’s plans fall under are the “auxiliary community facilities”. They include the uses which support local or community services. For example college dormitories, parish houses and convents that could not function without these things.
The opposition of the neighborhood comes from the many damaging affects that the dorm could have in such an area. They fear that the university will not be able to control the students living there. There is evidence to support this because of the statistics of law violations in SJU. In the last three years there has been “735 liquor-law violations, 106 drug-law violations, 84 burglaries, four forcible sex offenses and one arson” on the campus. There is also the concern for all the new traffic this will cause in the area. They claim that the sewer system in the area will not be capable of handling the addition of this new building.
St. Johns claims that this is a campus necessity; it will provide more safe housing for their students. They will provide 80 underground parking spots under the building and claim that this will help not disrupt traffic in the area. Because there will be less spots available that students who will be living there, the university proposes a shuttle service to and from the university. There is also opposition to this is that these buses will cause a disruption of the daily lives of current residents.My opinion on this is that the university has the right to be building in this area. It is in compliance with zoning laws because it falls under being a community facility. This is something that the university needs to do to compensate for its expanding number of students. The exemption to the zoning law is a good thing because buildings like these are necessary to the parties involved.

End of the semester.

This post is gonna be a little more personal than most. I cant believe the spring08' semester is almost over. I have about 3 more days of classes left until I finish my first whole year of college. It makes me think about how many things have changed since i first started here; how I've changed and how much i still have to change.
Mainly, I got out of a three year relationship. From this I learned to become more independent and to actually do things by myself. I learned that it's ok to be alone and you don't need someone there to be happy. I think in the end I am better off. What is meant to be, will be. I leave that part of my life thinking: No Regrets, Just lessons learned. I'll know better for next time.
I still have to become more serious about school. I feel like I've been slacking and it's not like me... at all. I try to get more organized, I actually bought a planner but I find myself still procrastinating and doing everything at the last minute. That's deffinitely something that I'll try to change for next year. New year, New start.
I still have so many things to do, I have finals coming up, paper's piling up and it's a very stressful time right now but I'm sure I'll make it through. I always do...
